Realization:

  • Upgrading of school level mathematics should be achieved by intensive Teacher Training Programmes.
  • Exemplifying the teaching with joint participation of students and teachers.
  • Educating the college teachers community by imparting up to date knowledge in the areas which are subject of college curriculum.
  • Encouraging self development by inspiring them to come out of defeatist mood.
  • Encouraging better students to acquire knowledge beyond their syllabus by creative process, which was also emphasized by J. N. Tata while conceiving the educational structure of the IISc, Bangalore.
  • People with passion for creative mathematics can inspire others to pursue mathematical studies and hence a high level of research activity is a necessity for the Institute.
  • Acquisition of knowledge and its desemination must go together. A good library and information retrieval system must be established.
  • A research school with a sufficient number of research students is of cardinal importance. This scholars are going to work as brand ambassadors and create a demonstration effect with a definite well structured programme.
  • To create a demonstration effect some undergraduate programmes must be started. These students can provide the future research students as well.
  • In the first phase, the Institute shall concentrate only on a few areas of current interest, having deep mathematical and practical content involving the possibility of inter disciplinary research. It should complement the activities of the existing centers as far as possible. Some of the possible areas are Operator Theory and Applied Functional Analysis, Applied Number Theory, Wavelet and Approximation, Inverse Problems related to differential equations, Mathematics of Computer Security, Stochastic Modeling.
  • A good infrastructure should be available for holding international schools in order to expose the mathematical community with the latest in the important areas of mathematics, just as it is done in Oberwolfach in Germany.
  • Institute should develop a good associateship programme with some Institutes of International importance for possible collaboration in some areas of importance.
